Vaccination
according to STIKO

Vaccinations are a great medical achievement. My recommendations are based on the official STIKO guidelines (Standing Committee on Vaccination) at the Robert Koch Institute. I am more than happy to answer questions in a private conversation.

Check-ups

Check-ups include complete physical examination with hearing and visual test and can be complemented by laboratory tests for specific issues.

Indicated vaccinations

Indicated vaccinations are not part of the general STIKO recommendations. When traveling to specific destinations or in case of any primary disease, additional vaccinations are particularly important. I gladly offer advice concerning this topic.

Hypo-sensitization

Allergies are getting increasingly problematic in the Western World. Hypo-sensitization is a form of therapy treating the causes of allergies by the regular intake of drops or tablets or by regular injections.

Home visits

I offer home visits by agreement to existing patients.

Diagnosis

Allergy diagnosis

To diagnose allergies, laboratory tests and skin prick tests are carried out.

Hearing test

From the age of three years, hearing tests can be carried out in a playful manner making the process less stressful for the young patients and their parents.

Paediatric practise

Visual test

My practise offers all standard visual tests using eye charts as well as a further method (Plusoptix). This test allows the detection of visual defects in early childhood, even before children can actively participate. The earlier that defects are detected and treated the better the prognosis.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a side-effect free, safe medical technique to create an image of internal organs. Besides the possibility to use ultrasound for abdominal organs, it also shows structures of the infant’s brain as long as skull bones have not completely grown together. When the fontanelle is closed, a cranial ultrasound is no longer possible. Hip ultrasounds are part of standard check-ups and detect and treat hip disorders at an early stage. Ultrasound of the heart enables its function to be evaluated and abnormalities to be detect.

Laboratory tests

Our own laboratory allows quick diagnosis for:

  • CPR (inflammatory signs)
  • Urine test

Detecting pathogens such as:

  • Group A streptococcus
  • Rotavirus
  • RSV

Additional laboratory tests

Through cooperation with external laboratory facilities we are in the position to offer the entire laboratory diagnosis.

Consultancy

Development issues

The development of the child is the primary focus of paediatrics. Beside the physical development we focus on motor skills as well as the mental and emotional development of the child. The aim should be to foster each single child’s individuality and to offer the best outcomes possible. It is particularly important to encourage a child according to its talents and support areas that may need improvement.

Parenting issues

Parents always want the best for their child. But sometimes, parents simply need assistance to understand how children see and process the world around them.

Paediatric practise

Nutrition issues

A child needs a well-balanced diet to thrive and grow. I am happy to answer questions concerning breastfeeding, solid foods and healthy nutrition as well as specific nutrition issues linked to food intolerances or deficiency signs.

Excretion disorders: Soiling/bedwetting

Cleanliness training is a very important stage of childhood. During this time, different disorders may occur with long-lasting effects. A deep understanding of the causes is essential for a successful therapy.

Paediatric practise

Allergy consultancy

Allergies are a common problem in developed countries. Precise diagnostics are essential for treatment success.

Travel medicine

Prior to traveling abroad, I provide information about possible health risks and how to avoid them through specific immunization or other preventive measures (malaria prophylaxis).

Regulation disorders

Regulation disorders in infancy and early childhood include sleep and feeding disorders, excessive crying and others. An approach sensitive to parents and children is especially important.

First aid training in infancy and childhood

By request, I offer individual first aid training including exercises on a resuscitation doll. I also offer group courses for up to ten people. This training is available for parents, parents-to-be and anybody dealing with infants and children professionally or privately.

Nature medicine

Naturopathic therapies enhance the natural healing power of the body and perfectly complement traditional medicine.

Classical naturopathy was developed by priest Sebastian Kneipp (1821 -1897) and includes:

  • Hydrotherapy and thermotherapy (Kneipp’sche Wickeln)
  • Ordinal therapy
  • Phytotherapy
  • Movement therapy
  • Nutritional therapy

The priest Sebastian Kneipp may seem a little old-fashioned; however, his key messages are still important these days.

Phytotherapy

Phytotherapy means the use of plants and plant products for medical purposes. Often, it is used in combination with old household remedies to strengthen the body’s natural defence mechanisms.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is part of phytotherapy. Specific scents have direct impact on the brain’s limbic system and therefore on the wellbeing which can enhance healing processes.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a specific art of healing and was developed by Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843). A given stimulus triggers an immune response. On request I offer fundamental homeopathic methods to support self-healing processes

Symbiosis control

Lately, the microbiome (individual aggregate of micro-organisms) has gained increased importance. Its effect on the immune system is undeniable. Symbiosis control (regulation of the intestinal flora) is the attempt to have an impact on the immune system.
